Internships

The One-Stop Missouri Career Centers operated by the Full Employment Council, (FEC) has an Internship program that provides short-term interships with private companies and organizations willing to provide work experience to FEC clients. FEC pays the wages for the interns, worker's compensation insurance and general liability in addition to payroll and bookkeeping. FEC also provides support to the organization in terms of how to involve the intern on the job.

Candidates will be screened to the needs of the business and job specific requirements. Candidates will be matched with companies based on their interests and goals. The length of the intership is negotiated and will vary among trainees depending on individual needs and available funding.

The aim of the internship is to provide experience that allows your company to observe a potential future employee. The internship also helps develop necessary skills that will lead to permanent employment with your company. At FEC, we strive to create a win-win situation for the employee and the organization. Organizations are expected to hire the intern after a successful training period.

Internship Q & A

How do we apply?

If your organization is interested in and eligible for this initiative, your FEC representative will work with you to develop an Employment & Training Stradegy (ETS), which will outline the number of employees and training budget for the project. The ETS plan must be approved by you and FEC.

Who are the interns?

Interns placed will have been screened by FEC and will have completed FEC's job preparation course. Any candidate who comes from FEC has also developed a career plan with their goals, which FEC uses to match them to employment. Many interns could work part-time while going to school for addtional training, but most will work full-time.

What is the employer's investment?

Organizations agree to provide a meaningful work experience while giving an intern a glimpse of what their workplace or office environment is like. This also gives the company an opportunity to work with a potential hire. Organizations are expected to hire the employee at the end of a successful internship period.
