Adult Services

Are you unemployed or underemployed? Are you a displaced homemaker, person with disabilities or a noncustodial parent delinquent in child support who needs work? At the One-Stop Missouri Career Center operated by the Full Employment Council, we can help you! FEC offices and One-Stop centers offer a wide range of employment and training services. We can assess your skill levels and interests, provide you with various kinds of training and provide job leads specifically for you.

Our staff is here to answer any questions and assist you toward your goal of a great career. Please note that while many services are available to the general public, you must qualify, apply and be accepted for other intensive and training services.

The general public can access job leads and training information at the One-Stop Missouri Career Centers. Please visit us anytime for:

Use of the Resource Room/ Job Referrals

Customers can conduct a job search in the Resource Room using on-line job listings and career information, its computers, phones and fax machines. Customers also may obtain job referrals and postings. The Resource Room also provides information about the area labor market.

Orientation and Overview of Career Services

Customers can choose to attend the orientation, which offers an overview of all services offered at the Missouri Career Center and the one-stop employment system. Orientations occur several times daily.

Self Assessment/Training and Education Provider Information

Customers may complete a self assessment to determine needed skills. Customers who want information about education providers or vocational training will be provided referrals, program descriptions and success rates.

Financial Assistance Workshop

Customers may have their eligibility for financial assistance for training determined by the one-stop staff. The workshop provides an overview of enrollment and eligibility, including the information required for the financial assistance application. Staff will process completed applications and inform customers of their eligibility.

File for Unemployment Insurance

Customers may file for unemployment benefits Monday through Friday.

Intensive Services

Customers who are determined eligible for financial assistance, apply and are accepted for intensive services may receive additional support in their job search. (Eligibility does not guarantee program enrollment, which is determined by the Admissions Committee.) Services are subject to funds available. These services include:

Career Planning & Intensive Assessment

Job seekers can develop a career plan outlining their goals, interests and an active plan for getting a job. Customers also are asked to complete a skills assessment. Training in this area is provided through FEC.

Job Search Assistance

Customers are provided assistance in job interviewing and resume writing skills as well as job-keeping skills. Upon successful completion of the job search course, customers who enroll will receive job referrals that match their job interests. This may also include short-term training and work experiences.

Internships/Work Experiences

Customers may be placed in a paid internship to gain work experience and skills. Upon successful completion, interns are provided placement assistance.

Support Services

These services may include funds for transportation, supplies and other training or work-related expenses based on the need of the customer. Vouchers for housing, transportation or other needs are also available under some programs.

Training Services

For those customers certified eligible for financial assistance, accepted and enrolled into training services by FEC, the following services may be available (Eligibility does not guarantee program enrollment, which is determined by the Admissions Committee. Services are subject to fund availability):

On-The-Job Training

Customers can earn while they learn during on-the-job training. Employers will provide trainees with employment upon successful completion of the training period.

Classroom Training

Customers can receive financial assistance to attend certified vocational classes at local schools, community colleges or other educational institutions. Upon completion, customers are provided job placement assistance.

Specialized Services for People with Special Needs

Do you have trouble passing tests? Understanding or following directions? Get headaches after you read a long time? You might have a special training need we can help you with! Thousands of people have special learning needs, and don't know it. If you have these or other learning difficulties, ask your counselor for the Work Incentive Grant (WIG) program.
