Tech Tuesday, a Success Story

Tech Tuesday Success Story

MauriceJones.jpgMr. Maurice Jones had worked as an automotive/equipment technician and supervisor for more than 25 years. Fresh out of Central High School, he attended Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley and received an Associate’s Degree in Automobile/Automotive Mechanics Technology. Mr. Jones found some success in the Automotive Mechanics Technology field and thrived for several years until a reorganization of his workplace resulted in separation from a company where he had worked for more than eight years.

“That day, the first place I went was FEC. I went through the workshops that helped develop my resume and provided job search tools, labor market information and career counseling. I enrolled in LearnKey online training, which gave me the confidence to enroll in Centriq Training’s I.T. Administration course.” Maurice said.

On March 31, 2017, Maurice completed the course requirements for the I.T. Administrator Program. His first stop that day was also FEC. He came back to share his success with the staff who had helped him accomplish his goal and thank them for their support.

Maurice’s journey continues with the full support of FEC as his new training is put to work in his job search.

“With Mr. Jones’ enthusiasm and diligence, we are sure he will find the success he is actively pursuing very quickly,” said Ms. Leslie Scott, Director of the new TechHire initiative. “We are proud of his accomplishments and are confident that the employer who hires Maurice will benefit greatly from an outstanding, second-career, I.T. employee.”

The TechHire Initiative is now available to facilitate training and work-experience for individuals like Mr. Jones, who are interested in pursuing a career in I.T., healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and the financial services. FEC offers many no-cost certification training opportunities in high-demand fields for those who qualify. Call 816-471-2330 today to find out more about TechHire.
