To be eligible for youth services, you must:
Meet age requirement for programs (16-24). Reside in Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte, or Ray Counties (some programs may have specific residential requirements). Meet income guidelines. Some programs have additional eligiblity criteria. 



Services Include but are not limited to:

Mentoring

  • Receive Career Counseling
  • Observe professionals in high demand career fields

Education

  • Prepare for your high school equivalency
  • Get tuition assistance at area vocational schools, community colleges, and other educational institutions
  • Improve your reading, writing, and math skills through remediation assessment

Employment

  • Find out about job openings
  • Get help in resume preparation
  • Get career and labor market information
  • Computer access for job search
  • Get job referrals and post your resume for employers to see
  • Career planning and assessment
  • Get help in preparing for job interviews
  • Work readiness preparation and workshops
  • Work experience in career path training area
  • Internships and summer employment opportunities

Supportive Services (Must meet eligibility requirements)

  • Transportation services
  • Work tools and supplies
  • Get help with living expenses while in training

At our Young Adult Career Connections Center - “The CUBE,” located in the historic Black Archives of Mid-America building just north of the 18th and Vine Jazz District, young adults can find a “home away from home” and gain education and skills to find the career of their dreams. “The CUBE” has its own classrooms, meeting rooms, computer labs, and even a state-of-the-art recording studio. By providing young people with access to core skills such as resume and interview preparation, The CUBE helps young adults make their entry into the workplace and realize their full potential.
