Employer Testimonials and Success Stories

Maxi-Seal Harness Systems, a subsidiary of Peterson Manufacturing, is headquartered in Grandview, MO. They produce custom designed wiring harnesses for heavy, medium, and light-duty trucks and trailers. With more than 15 years experience, their modern manufacturing facilities allow them to produce every system to exacting standards of quality and performance. Maxi-Seal has utilized the FEC to assist them with staffing for their open Team Assembler positions, using On-the-Job Training (OJT) on four of twelve candidates they have hired from the FEC. In addition, the FEC Career Centers have provided the opportunity for Maxi-Seal job candidates to take the WorkKeys job assessment, which helps to identify skill gaps that the candidate might have and areas in which OJT would prove useful. The FEC will continue to assist Maxi-Seal with their staffing, and also will assist their partner companies, Peterson Manufacturing and Mission Plastics, when they have hiring needs.

Ace Pipe Cleaning, headquartered in Kansas City, MO, specializes in sludge and liquid waste management for industry, municipalities, and utilities with services that help maintain process efficiency and meet environmental compliance. They participated in FEC's On-the-Job Training (OJT) program, in which training is offered to individuals who already possess some job related skills but need training to update their skills. The employer is reimbursement up to 50% of the employee’s wages during training. Ace Pipe Cleaning also utilized the Missouri Work Assistance (MWA) Work Experience program. This program provides customers the opportunity to train at employer’s worksite and enhances their employability skills; the FEC pays the intern directly. The FEC has posted 13 job openings for Ace Pipe Cleaning since August 21, 2013. A total of 41 clients were pre-screened and resumes sent for review. Of the six FEC clients that were selected to complete OJT training, four were hired after the training as CDL Driver/Sewer and Drain Cleaners.

Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics have had a long-standing relationship with the Full Employment Council/Missouri Career Center to identify applicants, and have been part of several grants and scholarship opportunities. Molly Weaver, who is the Director of Employment and has been with the organization since 2009, and her team at Children’s Mercy have provided mentoring as well as identifying training opportunities within the hospital to skill-up their current staff through partnering efforts with the Full Employment Council/Missouri Career Center. They have utilized the referral process and their recruiters have participated in eight hiring fairs organized by the FEC. Ms. Weaver and her team of recruiters and administrators communicated weekly with the FEC and have allowed the FEC to provide good customer service to the job seekers as well as feedback on the status of any applications made. Children’s Mercy has recognized the Full Employment Council/Missouri Career Center as a partner in their recruiting efforts and considers this partnership an integral part of their staffing and training solutions for both new and current workers.  As a result of the close work that took place with the FEC, and the GKCHHIT  partnership, other joint programs were created, including the pilot program Men in Nursing.

In 2012, the FEC presented the Show-Me Heroes Flag of Freedom award to Church & Dwight for honoring veterans with a Pledge to Hire. The Show-Me Heroes Program was launched in 2010 to help Missouri's Veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserve reconnect with meaningful careers, and to showcase Missouri employers who have pledged to do so.

Richmond R-XVI School District is a small district in rural Ray County, 40 miles northeast of Kansas City. Jeff Southwick, Director of Building and Grounds, had nothing but praise for FEC's Summer Training and Internship Program (T.I.P.) "We had a good group of kids that worked hard, and it was beneficial for the district because they helped with projects such as moving classrooms, painting, and weeding." Mr. Southwick thought the educational training, in addition to internships, was extremely important. "It was positive for the kids to teach them more about how education ties in to the work environment. This was a great program."
